The Leong's Family

Brother In Law Andrew Doward when he was first introduced to my dad through the postal services, that was back in the 80s. He was met with very very strong resistance when a letter came regarding Andrew, the Ang Moh proposal to marry my sis Sam Ling (In the 19th century, thousands of Chinese immigrants came to Singapore in search of work and opportunities. Majority from Chinese provinces of Fujian and Guangdong. That was when the British had early contacts with Chinese immigrants, especially tea traders. The first Chinese junk arrived in Singapore in 1821 and many worked in many sectors, including construction, agriculture, shipping, mining, and rickshaw pulling. That's where the British were called Ang Moh due to their golden hair) Not until when Dad was invited for a holiday in UK with our mother. Dad arrived home with lots of high praises about this young man.
As years go by knowing much more about Andrew gave the family back in Singapore and Malaysia a sense of affirmation that sis Sam Ling will be well looked after and cared for as she is so far away from us.
Andrew also a strong advocate for climate change. As train journeys are among the most environmentally friendly ways to travel, especially when compared to flying. On average, a train trip produces up to 96.5% fewer CO2 emissions than a comparable flight. For this reason he often choose trains over planes while going for work or meeting in Europe.
He is also very approachable, jokes a little always helpful and caring. Our fond memories of Andrew was his love of Asian foods, speaks quite a bit of Mandarin and not forgetting his most favourite fruit Durian.
The Leong's thoughts and love are always with our Sister Sam Ling, Nephew Jienchi, Nikita, Kahlan and Leejiah
"For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."
